Tue, 2 October 2007 Some brief and not terribly original thoughts while meditating. So many of the bitter divisions between people arise from the conviction that "we are not of this world," meaning that God has put us here as a sort of trial--after which we will assume our true form. While I agree that the material world is not our true form (or not all of it, in any case), I'd still argue not just that "we are of this world" but that "we are the world." Our job, then, is not to push against the evil world but to create harmony in the world by uniting ourselves with it. Comments[0] |
